Professor Mahmoud Ayoub (PhD) is Professor Emeritus at Temple University, and Professor of Islamic Studies & Christian-Muslim Relations at Hartford Seminary in Connecticut.  He is the author of numerous books, including Redemptive Suffering in Islam and The Qur’an and Its Interpreters (vol. 1 & 2).  Throughout his academic career, Mahmoud Ayoub has received distinguished awards and scholarships, and is an internationally-recognized authority in comparative study of Islam and Muslim-Christian relations and inter-religious dialogue.  Since 1999,  Professor Ayoub has participated in the United States’ Department of State’s program as one of its ambassadors to various parts of the Middle East and South East Asia, commenting on American society and institutions, inter-religious dialogue, and Islam in America.
