The Immorality of our Crime Policy

scales-of-justice

In light of Bill C-10 (the omnibus crime bill introduced by the Conservative Party of Canada), this presentation will explore the evolution of punishment in our criminal justice system, covering themes such as rehabilitation, proportionality, and restorative justice. Greenspan will address the difficulties in restoring the values in our justice system.

Edward L. Greenspan has been practicing throughout Canada since 1970.  He is probably one of Canada’s best known defence lawyers with a strong commitment to public education in the law and an activist advocate in areas that pertain to developments in criminal law.  He is the author of Greenspan: The Case for Defence.  In 1986, he left the practice for some time to travel across the country and debate successfully against the return of the death penalty.
