Pascale Fournier (SJD) is a Full Professor and the Research Chair in Legal Pluralism and Comparative Law at University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law. In 2008, she served as expert consultant for the United Nations Development Programme on issues of gender and Islamic law in Tunisia, Egypt, Malaysia and Nigeria. She is the author of numerous award-winning publications, including the book Muslim Marriage in Western Courts: Lost in Transplantation (2010, Ashgate Publishing). She was recently named part-time commissioner of the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse (CDPDJ) in Quebec for a five-year term.
