The Ideas Exchange: Student Education – Student Action

Student conference on social justice

Date: Thursday April 29, 2010
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The Ideas Exchange: Student Education – Student Action is an annual, free city-wide student conference organized by Avondale’s student group, Raise Your Voice, and hosted by the students of Avondale Secondary Alternative School and Noor Cultural Centre. The conference’s purpose is to empower youth to get involved and be leaders in social justice-related movements by exposing them to peers and other respected individuals who have done just that.

This year’s conference will include presentations on issues at home and abroad that include genocide, poverty and homelessness, living with HIV, being an illegal immigrant in school, child soldiers, and the sexual enslavement of women.

In order to encourage active participation and dialogue with peers and experts alike, attendance is limited. Therefore, we recommend groups register early to ensure your spot.
