Tehreema Mitha grew up in Pakistan; dancing under the tutelage of her mother, Indu Mitha, since the age of seven, she performed her first full two-hour program of Bharatanatyam in Lahore in 1986. Since then, Tehreema has continued to give full solo performances to audiences in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Norway, China, India, Germany, England, Guatemala and the United States. She is the subject of the film And She Dances On, which premiered in 1996. This documentary was selected among others presented at the 1997 Asian Film Festival to tour Europe, Asia and North America.

Tehreema holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and English and French, and an MA in Fine Arts. She has choreographed more than sixty dances, (both solo and ensemble); to these she adds a repertoire of yet more items that have been passed down by tradition. Her professional career now spans over 22 years.

Tehreema is a recipient of the Kennedy Center’s Local Dance Commissioning project for 2009. Her new work, “Blue Jeans” will Premiere on The Millennium Stage on September 17 and 18, 2009.
