Panel Discussion

with

Benamar Benatta is a refugee from Algeria who was illegally handed over to the U.S. by Canadian officials on September 12, 2001, with the allegation that as a Muslim with aeronautical experience, he may be connected to the events of 9/11. Mr. Benatta spent almost five years in detention in the U.S. under conditions the United Nations concluded were tantamount to torture, and is seeking a public review of his case.

Nicole Chrolavicius works on human rights and constitutional law with Bakerlaw and represents Mr. Benatta in a civil lawsuit seeking answers and damages from the Canadian government.

Matthew Behrens is Coordinator of the Campaign to Stop Secret Trials in Canada and Stop Canadian Involvement in Torture.
