On January 12, Haiti was devastated by a massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake, the largest to strike the Caribbean nation in more than two centuries. The extent of the damage is still unknown, but estimates indicate as many as 200,000 may have died and 1.5 million been left homeless or hurt.
