Date: Sunday March 16, 2008
Time: 6:30 p.m.

Aisha Jamal is currently completing her Ph.D. at the University of Toronto Film Studies program, exploring contemporary immigrant filmmakers in Germany. She has been the co-coordinator of Toronto’s Diaspora Film Festival for several years.

Sarah Shamash is a filmmaker currently living in Toronto whose latest short documentary entitled “Passages and Puzzles” screened at the 2007 Diaspora Film Festival. This film reflects on the changing face of society through the tale of three voluntary exiles from three different generations all living in Paris 2005. The film explores notions of identity and belongings through the intertwined trajectories of the three protagonists and the filmmakers’ father’s passage from Iran to Canada.
