Mehdi Khalaji is a Senior Research Fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, where his work focuses on the politics of Iran and Shiite groups in the Middle East. His writing is frequently featured by major media outlets, including The Guardian, BBC, New York Times, and the Washington Post. He is a Shiite theologian by training, having studied Islamic theology and jurisprudence in the seminaries of Qom, Iran.
