The Toronto Youth Food Policy Council will be presenting this workshop for youth aged 16-24 as an introduction to issues of food security. Food security is a state in which every person has sufficiently plentiful and nutritious food to meet their daily requirements for a healthy life.
The workshop will explore such questions as :
Is food a right or a privilege? Do you think people in your community have sufficient access to healthy food?
Where do you think your food comes from?
What is the difference between hunger and food insecurity?
What are the impacts of food insecurity, and what are the barriers to food security?
How do we take action to change our food system?
Following the workshop will be a potluck lunch. In order to minimize the social impact of our consumption, please aim to make dishes as: vegetarian/vegan, local, organic and fair trade as possible.
