Islamic History Month Canada Series
In 2007, Parliament designated October as Islamic History Month Canada, to celebrate Muslims’ and Islamic civilizations’ intellectual, scientific, and cultural contributions to human flourishing.
This October, Noor presents a special series on Islam and science.
The first three sessions in the series will feature the screening and discussion of BBC’s three-part documentary ‘Science and Islam‘; presented by physicist Jim Al-Khalili, the film covers the fascinating history of science in medieval Islamic civilizations. The capstone of the series is a lecture by Dr. Ingrid Hehmeyer, Professor in the History of Science and Technology at Ryerson University, speaking on ‘The Medical Sciences in Islamic Miniature Paintings‘.
