Islamic Bioethics Relating to Ending of Life
by Dr. Soroush Dabbagh

This lecture will explore Islamic perspectives on human agency in end-of-life decisions, relevant in the context of recent discussions in Canada on physician-assisted suicide and termination of life support.

Dr. Soroush Dabbagh has a PhD in Philosophy (Warwick University, UK).  He teaches classes in Islamic bioethics, philosophy, human rights and morality in the History Department at University of Toronto Mississauga.  He is the author and co-author,respectively, of the forthcoming books ‘Ethics and Mysticism: Islamic Debates in Post-Revolutionary Iran‘ (Oxford: One World, 2013) and ‘The Life of Soroush: Mysticism and Politics‘ (Oxford: One World, 2014).  He has written and spoken extensively on ethics in Islam.
