Please join us for the third session in this 4-part introductory Book Club series on 21st Century Muslim writers in English.  Each session will comprise a lecture followed by reading group discussion.

About the book:
Minaret‘ (2005) follows the journey of Najwa, a young woman forced to flee her home in Sudan in the wake of the Second Sudanese Civil War, and move to London.  Contending with loss, racism, and poverty,  Najwa is able to find freedom and security through her faith.  The book was nominated for the UK’s Women’s Prize for Fiction, and the IMPAC Dublin Award
About the author:
Leila Aboulela is an award-winning novelist, originally from Sudan and living in Scotland.
This program is curated and facilitated by Kurosh Amoui, PhD candidate in Social & Political Thought at York University, Toronto.
